iMessage - Blue fade

On my iPhone 5S, in an imessage conversation, the blue (messages I send) is lighter near the top of the screen than the more recent and near the bottom messages.

Just wondering if this is designed of if I have a noticeable screen defect.

That's how the new text messages appear in ios 7, it's not a defect.

It's designed that way in iOS 7.

I feel like I'm looking at a cloud from super mario. Goes with the ios for under 7's design

It's all part of the emerging design language for iOS: "focus" on foreground stuff is signified by high contrast and brightness; context is conveyed by fading and blur.
