iMessage confusion

Ok so I keep getting replies on my iPad to iMessages sent on my iPhone but the reply doesn't show on iPhone, anyone know why this is happening? Majority of the time my iPad is locked and not in use, so i'm confused as why half the replies don't go to my iPhone and just show on my iPad.

People are probably replying to your email address. Make sure your phone is also set to receive to that address.

Needfx: just turned off and on again hope that works

Mercenary: I have my phone setup to send from mobile number so it couldn't be that.

Do you ever even use your iPad for iMessages? I just turned it off on mine.

Maybe also try sending messages via your # instead your email?

Yes, but do you have it set up to receive texts to the email address?

Best thing would be to just clear all the iMessage settings, then re-enter the iMessage /iCloud account on your phone first, the your ipad. Make sure both are set to send and receive from the phone number and receive messages sent to the email address.

to be honest no not really I may use it occasionally if I see a link I want to send someone but it's all mainly through my iPhone..... seems iMessages was not setup properly for some reason..... I logged out setup on both again and yeh sent a link via iPad and it showed on my iPhone.
