It’s seems as if iMessage in the cloud is now syncing to the Apple Watch from other devices.
Did I miss an announcement for this? Has it been happening for a while?

So, if you delete an iMessage from your iPhone, iPad or MBA/MBP, it will also delete on the AW?
It Just did for me. I deleted 3 messages on my iPad and they deleted from the watch. So I thought I was going crazy and deleted a fourth one while the iMessage app was open on the watch and it disappeared right in front of me.

Hmm...I'm not seeing this behaviour....
Thats odd. Now the only thing I’ve done different recently is I did turn on advance data protection. Otherwise I’ve changed nothing. All on the latest software release.

This has always worked for me, when it comes to deleting and synchronising iMessage, but for whatever reason, Apple do not extend that to synchronising deleting SMS texts. So can you guys confirm, are you referring to iMessage messages or SMS messages?

Ah I just tried it with an SMS and no it didn’t delete.
I never ever had it happen before today even with iMessages though lol

Both. I don’t think Apple Watch iMessage syncs with the phone or computer. It’ll receive the same messages but not delete the same.

Definitely something wrong there than at your end (not saying your fault). iMessages should synchronise across all devices, just SMS being left out… But as discussed…that stupid decision is down to Apple being somewhat useless!

That's interesting. It has never synced to the watch for me and hasn't for my partner either.

You do have Messages in iCloud sync enabled? In settings

So is sync working again now or too early to tell?
It's a little early to tell completely, but I did do some preliminary testing.

Looks like syncing is mostly working.

An odd behaviour: I deleted an SMS chain from my iPad (this is after starting from pretty anew) and while this also deleted it from the iPhone, it did not delete it from the Watch.

Unfortunately, due to Apple being completely clueless at times, this is expected behaviour. There is no synchronising on the watch with SMS. God only knows why Apple have decided that this is how it is but it's been like this since day one.

So I think I wasn't wrong to recall that at some point, Message deletion did not sync to the Apple Watch. For instance, see this thread on Apple Discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252984890

However, it looks like with the latest iteration of WatchOS, message deletion with the exception of SMS text does sync delete across to Apple Watch! At least so far that seems to be the case for me.
