hi,

my iMessage doesn't work when i am connected to my office network. i understand there might be some port/firewall setup by our network admin. but is there any work around?

These are the ports that FaceTime uses, they might be the same for iMessage, they might be different.

TCP: 80, 443, 53, 4080, 5223

UDP: 16393 to 16472

Many places will block everything outbound except for ports 80 and 443 (regular web traffic). If that's the case, you're probably stuck unless you can get them to open up the ports.

iMessage works on my school network, and they block pretty much everything, so....

Even SSH doesn't work on my school's network!

The OP to the best of our knowledge does not attend your school so that does not help.

iMessage needs ports 80(TCP), 443(TCP) and 5223(TCP) in order to work. It is most likely that HIS network is blocking port 5223 as ports 80 and 443 are generally left open.
