iMessage/FaceTime between two iPhone using the same AppleID/Account?

2 iPhones, all linked to the same Apple ID/account (using a Gmail address as the ID).

Set up an iCloud email address and create two aliases: alias1 and alias2. Then, assign these aliases to each of the 2 phones under/for iMessage and FaceTime. Each phone has its own unique phone number.

Can these 2 phones iMessage or FaceTime between each other, even though they’re under the same Apple ID/account? I heard that you can’t iMessage or FaceTime within the same Apple ID/account.
