iMessage having problems now?

Me and my girlfriend both have iPhones (her ip4 with iOS5 and me 4S). When I text her it just says text message instead of iMessage, when I have iMessage on.

It's doing the same for her.

It was fine for both of us a couple hours ago.

I was texting my girl too and 1 of the messages she sent was text message, then the next one was iMessage. Ah, I don't care.

It happened to me once, and cost me 40 cents (20 for me to send, 20 for her to receive)! We don't have a texting plan, and were using iMessage for free, only to have it switch over to SMS. I immediately went into our iMessage settings and turned off that "feature". Sending one text isn't worth 40 cents to me.
