I don't know if this has something to do with iOS 6, if not then can move to the right section.

First off, I've spend a good few hour's on google trying to get my iMessage to work tried everything and nothing has worked so far.

My phone number won't even show up in my iMessage setting's as seen below.

I'm not on an official iPhone carrier, could this be causing the problem? I have also contacted my carrier, they just said iMessage is to do with the iPhone nothing to do with them, told me to turn it on and off ect, but it didn't work.

Any other solutions, thanks in advance.

It probably is your carrier...Apple needs to be able to see the phone number in order to add it to their servers. Probably blocked somehow through your carrier.

I had a similar issue and was able to get the phone number option back by deleting all the email addresses (blue arrow, delete). I then added the email addresses back.
