iMessage - How to use email only.

Is there anyway to just use email, to be shared with everyone rather than phone number?

You should be able to find the option to change it email as the primary contact in Settings->Messages->receive at

there is no option to remove the phone number that i can see... only to add other email addresses.

So when someone sends you an iMessage to your phone number does it get pushed to your iPad as well or does the other iOS user need to send to your email address and it goes to iPhone and iPad?

If they send to phone number, it does NOT sync across to iPad. Very annoying. Lots of device switching this evening with people messaging my Apple ID and/or phone number. I have 2 threads for most ppl who upgraded to iOS 5 now. Can't they set the Apple ID to acknowledge your phone # and sync your SMS too?

Bummer. That's what it was looking like to me. Thanks for the confirmation. None of my friends or my wife have upgraded yet so I was just testing it on myself.
