I can't get this to work & wonder if anyone else has: I want to be in Airplane Mode (but turn Wifi on) and send iMessages from my iPhone. It seems like I can send iMessages (and they say delivered) but I cannot receive them.

Does this only work if you have a phone number & Apple ID associated with iMessage? (I don't have an Apple ID associated with mine).

FYI: The reason why I'd like to do this is my basement receives almost no cellular signal (constantly says "Searching"); so that drains the battery fast looking for a signal. So I would still like to send iMessages via my iPhone without my phone's battery going from 80% to 35% in two hours!

Yes, you would need an Apple ID associated with Messages

Been doing this for a while now. It's great to be able to chat with my wife as I fly across the country. Make sure whoever you are messaging has iMessage. If they don't have it turned on, they won't get the messages and won't be able to reply to you.

Thanks you two!
