iMessage issue: Pictures stay "Downloading"

I have come upon this issue with iMessage and i want to know if there is any fix to it?
If i turn off iMessage, I receive pictures just fine, but while on iMessage, it says "Downloading"

I am using an iPhone 6+ if that makes any difference, which I don't think because I have seen this happen on an iPhone 6.

Anyone experience this issue?

There have been multiple threads on this, either restart your phone or turn iMessage off then back on to fix.
