iMessage no longer shows contact names

I'm running OS X 10.10.1 and iMessage no longer shows contact names, only their phone number in the Messages application. Names do appear if I get a notification.

I've tried setting up iCloud again on my Mac, playing around with settings in contacts but so far nothing has worked.

The problem is exclusive to my Mac though. No issues on my iPhone or iPad.

Anyone else having a similar issue?

Sounds like Messages doesnt have permission to access your contacts.
