iMessage non iPhone users on Macbook?

Hello. I remember I used to be able to send text messages using my Macbook to people who have Andriod phones thur iMessage. Now I am not able to. Do I need change something in my settings on my Mac?

well if you use AOL or google or one of the other services you add your account, so if you send them a message using one of those other services, you can communicate through that account using iMessage. you configure your accounts and add them in, make sure their contact information is compatible and viola.

From your iOS device go to Settings > Messages >Text Message Forwarding and make sure your Macbook is enabled.

Could have been via SMS or Jabber (inc Facebook) - both answers above but you need to know (or remember, or ask), what service they might have been receiving them on?
