Last night I opened up my MBA and it asked me to log back into messages to allow it to receive iMessages from my .mac account and I thought nothing of it (probably just another security measure). I then immediately got notifications on my other computers and my iPhone informing me that my MBA is "Now" authorized to use my various email and iMessage accounts/aliases and my phone number.

Then something infuriating happened - my MBP asked me to log in again, the same notifications popped up across the board that it's NOW authorized, and then NONE of the iMessages for the past week showed up in Messages no matter how many times I restarted the computer or app or signed out and back in. I really need those to keep track of how I pass sensitive information to different people and parties and have hard copy backups of this on multiple drives and servers.

Then something really bad happened - my iPhone stopped receiving new messages and notifications for ! I was in the middle of three serious conversations about a new contract I was writing and needed signed ASAP and suddenly I wasn't hearing from anyone - I had to rush back to one of my computers to access the new messages, previous ones weren't showing up, and my phone is STILL not notifying me of iMessages!

I've tried changing the preferences in Messages to send from my .mac address as the "default for new messages" rather than my phone number, and that at least helped to allow iMessages to reach my phone, but still with no notifications! After a little while a few random messages from weeks ago finally came to my phone that apparently I hadn't received, but were dated as last night. Since then, I've turned iMessages off on Messages in as many places as I can and I'm still suffering from this! Has this been happening to other people?? If this is widespread we need to make a post about this in the iOS Blog!
