Many iPhone and iPad users appear to be experiencing issues with Apple's iMessage service, which seems to be down for some people. Those who are having problems are unable to send iMessages and are instead being forced to communicate via standard green bubble text messages.

According to user reports on Twitter, the problem started for some users last night. Not all iPhone and iPad owners are affected by the issue, but based on reports we're hearing, a decent number of people are having trouble with iMessage.

Apple's System Status page is not currently reporting a service outage, so it's not clear what's going on or when the problem will be fixed. We'll update this post with any new information we receive.

If it happens to you all that is needed is to go into Settings > iMessage > Send & Receive > Use Apple ID for iMessage and sign in.

Engineers will get working on this issue right away... as long as it affects the use of Emoooooji.
Somebody in that keyboard thread told me they're upgrading to animated emoji next. So that is definitely what is happening right now. /s

I noticed late last night on my Mac that I had been booted out of the Messages app sign in. I had to log back into it with my iCloud username / password.

I'd be shocked if that happened. My guess is iMessage is one big reason many people stick with iOS. Google did a terrible job at making and marketing anything similar. Even their latest incarnation uses some strange workaround for SMS.

I was hoping to read "iMessage now available on all platforms!"

Too many emojis on the network.

I'd love to know the sheer utter volume of texts sent yesterday Valentines Day especially using the balloons and hearts etc on iMessage. Usage must have been off the fing charts bc everyone I know with iPhones used AND overused iMessage all day and night yesterday
