iMessage only on iPad and Mac is possible?

I am selling my iPhone but i will still be using my iPad and Mac. I will use the same mobile number on another android device, so i won't lose the number. Can i still receive iMessages on my iPad and mac?

I don't think so. your iPad and Mac use your iPhone to relay the messages. At least that's the way I understand it.

No problem. Just remember to dissasocite your telephone number with the iMessage account, otherwise you'll only receive texts on the Mac/iPad.

The above poster is incorrect. iMessages does not require a phone, only regular text messages does that.

Yes, but you also won't receive any texts at all on your Android phone.
