imessage problem on iphone4

My iphone 4 is brand new..it came with ios5. imessage isn't working. When I send my husband an imessage, it says delivered, but he doesn't get it. I receive his messages, no problem. I did a hard restart once and that fixed it temporarily, but then it stopped again. Help, please!

We use the same apple ID....would that cause this?

Are you sending to phone numbers, or Apple IDs?

If you're using his Apple ID, maybe he hasn't told his phone to accept iMessages for that. (If he has an iPad, your messages would appear there, which might explain the "delivered" status)

I'm just using phone numbers...and no ipads. I got a different apple ID and it seems to be working now.
