iMessage problem!?

Hello! Ive had my macbook pro for a few months now and I haven't been able to sign into iMessage/facetime. When I try to, after putting in my apple id and password the wheel keeps spinning and never stops. Ive tried multiple times and have had no luck. Just today I updated to Yosemite and I still have the same problem! Can anyone help? My apple ID is working completely fine on my iPhone and in the iTunes store!! Thank you so much!

AFAIK, the issue is when you don't have a serial number (after a mother board replacement, for example).

If you can see a serial number, the problem is likely different.
