Any idea why some 'delivered' turns to 'read' while more often that not, other people's stay 'delivered'. I have some iMessage people who always show 'read', and others who only show 'delivered', even when read? Just wondered...
 
Delivered means just that, your message made it to the other persons iPhone/iPad/iPod or Mac.

The ones that read 'read' mean that they've actually read your message. The ones that never say 'read' mean that they've either not enabled or disabled the 'read' feature on their devices so as not to confirm to the sender that they've read the message or not.

Ahh. I didn't know you could disable it. They were definitely read but always said delivered. I thought the 'read receipt' was something else altogether. But obviously it's that
