iMessage Read Time New?

Hey all,

Noticed a new marker noting the time a message was read. Is this new or have I been missing this for a while?

Its been there since the beginning, but the device has to have it turned on in iMessage settings in order for the sender to see it displayed as read once read.

While I agree, I can see why Apple chose the default to be "off". If it were on by default, people would complain that it's a privacy issue, even though you can turn it off.

I believe blackberry defaults on for BBM.

This is a permanent feature on bbm. There is no way to turn it off like you can on imessage.

i think when it first came out, it did default to read receipts being turned on. i seem to remember having to disable it.

but now it defaults to off.
