My Macbook Air (2013) has developed an odd fault. Messages has stopped working after months of being fine.
Its still signed in, I can see messages I've sent and received but any attempt to send a new message results in the address turning red and clicking the address gives a message that XXX is not registered with iMessage - which they are as I'm still messaging fine on my iPad and iPhone.
So far I've tried the following:
Signed all devices out then back in 1 by 1.
Signed out and restored all iOS devices, with NO restore all set up as new
Signed out, Erased and Internet Recovery installed fresh 10.9.4 NO restore, still not working.
I've tried my AppleID on my wives macbook and messages works perfectly and stays in sync with my iOS devices.
Ive tried 10.9.3, and Yosemite (DP4 and the PB) all display the same issue.
Other Apple IDs on my Macbook air display the same issue.
I've signed in on my work iMac and it works.
On the Macbook iMessage signs in and out fine, picks up my phone number and email addresses but sits there doing nothing.
Under 10.9.4 theres nothing in the system logs or console output to give a clue that I can see. Under Yosemite it does seem like my machine UUID is getting rejected.
On googling the issue I see people with Hackintoshs having the same issue but thats because of there fake macs!
Has anyone else heard of Apple blocking a real Macbook UUID?
Ive contacted Apple tech support online, who were stumped, I am dealing with a senior advisor but he's run out of options too and has passed to engineering - whose current fix is wait for a software update. Well lets just say 10.9.5 hasn't fixed it either and weird it doesn't occur on another machine, but still appears with a clean install?
Help if you can please!
