iMessage saves conversations and pictures in Library

Sorry if I didn't post this in the right spot, but title says it all. How do I stop this from happening? I use iMessage on my MPB constantly and send pictures through it so much its starting to eat up my HDD space.

How do I regulate this or just stop it completely.
