Hey all

I was on a recent business trip to Cali (SF & LA) and my iMessage and text messages just stopped working! I could send messages (they show as green instead of the usual blue to my iPhone contacts) but did not receive anything at all. When I traveled to Puerto Rico last month, there was no problem with either texting or iMessage.

It was extremely odd so I went down to the Apple store in LA to see what was going on. The genius looked it over and had no explanation for me. They reset my network settings and all! They did want to update my phone to 5.1 but I had not backed up my phone so I did not do it.

Here is the weird part. On my arrival back to NYC, everything was working as if nothing had happened at all. I did not receive any messages that were sent over the past few days but I am happy I did not have to go back to the store for a replacement.

Does anyone know why this occurred? I have another business trip coming up next week, and I do not want to have the same problem!

iMessage functions intermittently wherever I go. As Apple will tell you, it's still a Beta. I find outages from time to time in LA, Chicago, DC, etc.

I can understand iMessage not working, but what about my regular text messages? Why wouldn't that work?
