iMessage time displayed incorrectly on notifications

I have a strange problem whereby my iMessage app on 10.9 seems to be 8 minutes behind.

In this example I sent a message at 18:07 (this was the correct time). However the read receipt comes back 8 minutes in the past:



The same happens with the notifications:



It is like my iMessage clock is off by 8 minutes. The time displayed on the menu bar is correct.

Well I worked it out myself. The time I thought was correct on my iMac was intact wrong. Somehow, something had turned off the auto update time and I was 8 minutes fast...all sorted now though.
