iMessage to Phone Number

If i send an iMessage to my friend's phone number will the message show up on both his iPad and iPhone or only the iPhone. I understand that if I send it to his email address it will send to both, but i want to know how it works when sending the message to his phone number.

It will only go to the phone. I wish that there was a better way to do it but there really isn't.

Ok. Thanks for the information. Maybe an update will change this in the future.
