Imessage video quality

As i understand it, one of the benefits of imessge is no degration in pictures and video when sending through imessage.

My pics send fine, but the videos that i send, and are sent to me are of the lower quality. Is wifi required or what?

Can't be, I send vids on Wifi quite often and they too are of lower quality. Probably the apple servers are not yet capable of handling such loads.

Both users have to be on wifi for it to send a higher quality video. The sender and recipient.
