I use the record audio feature in WhatsApp pretty extensively, and when someone sends me an audio file, I can typically hit "play" and the audio will play out loud (as if the phone is on speakerphone).
However, it seems like after the iOS 8.0.2 update, the audio files only play "silently" (I have to hold the phone up to my ear to listen).
I don't use the new iMessage record audio feature, but I went ahead and tested it to see if it exhibited similar behavior - and it did. It also will not play messages out loud.
Is this by design, or is this potentially some kind of bug? I can't find a way to "force" the messages to play out loud (but I didn't used to have to in the past).
I've closed WhatsApp and restarted my phone and I'm still having the same issue. I'm trying to avoid deleting and re-installing because I will have to back up and restore my messages which takes forever. But that may have to be the next course of action.
Listening to voicemail or taking a call via speakerphone are working fine.
Any thoughts?
