I've been using the Public Betas of OS X El Capitan on my 2013 Macbook Air without issue until last night when I tried to install the release version of El Cap. It wasn't coming thru as a software update thru the App Store, and after some reading I downloaded it manually from the App Store and installed.

Everything seemed to have come thru fine, all my FaceTime history, Apps, emails, etc. are intact but when I opened iMessages it's completely blank. Tried restarting, logging out of iMessages and logging back in, enabling/re-enabling all to no avail.

I finally decided to restore to backup from my Time Capsule (last backup was right before I installed the general release of El Cap). After restore everything came back up, checked the version and was back to the latest public release of El Capitan. When I opened iMessages, I saw them all there and then they all just disappeared! Like opening iMessages updated something and deleted them.

I've been reading support articles throughout the web but nothing with a similar issue. I'm not sure what to do at this point but basically I just want to get those iMessages (and attachments within) back. Anyone experiencing the same issue? Anyone have any guidance on getting this fixed? Thanks in advance!
