When you sync iMessages on iCloud, does Apple hold the encryption keys? That is, can they read my messages, theoretically? As I understand it, iMessage currently has end to end encryption where even Apple can't even read my messages even if it wanted to

Didn’t they say at the keynote that it is end to end encryption? I hardly think it would be decrypted when it gets to the cloud and then re-encrypted before it reaches another device.

obviously. otherwise you'd have to enter encryption key on every computer you sync. rather it's the icloud id which sync it automatically.
