iMessages not receiving all messages on both iPhone 13 Pro IOS 16.2 and iMac OS 10.15.7

Since upgrading to IOS 16.1 have been having problems with iMessages syncing with my iMac Messages. Also it appears I'm only getting messages from those in my contacts and not from any website that sends Two-Factor Authorization codes so this makes responding and logging into my secure websites a problem. I have to have those messages sent to my wife's iPhone cell number to get the codes.
 
iMessage has always seems a bit twitchy to me. Has gotten better over time. Not sure if Catalina is hurting you on this one.

Re: the two-factor, I'd double check that you have text message forwarding turned on the iMac. On the phone go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding
