iMessages not saving on watch

Has iMessages on the Watch changed? Previously, when I received an iMessage, I would get the notification on my watch and I could later click on the messages icon on thewatch and scroll through those messages.

Now, (after OS3) I'm getting the notification on the watch but the messages are not being retained on the watch. As soon as I exit out of the notification, the message is gone Is this a new behavior or is something wrong?
