Greetings! I hope this is right forum to post questions about iMessages.

So my friend uses both an iPad (gen 4) and iPhone; those are all she uses for computing. Her iPad has ZERO space left; iPhone has some more.

I took a look at the iPad assuming that it was the photos & videos eating up the local space. To my surprise it wasn't those media but actually iMessages that had 7.77GB of space used. I also took a look at the iPhone and the same thing where iMessages was up to almost 20GB of local space used. Both iPad & iPhone was set to save messages forever.

Question before I help her & she ends up losing stuff. If I change the iPad's save message term to 30 days, I assume it will recover space on iPad, correct? Will that also mean that the same blasted message will disappear from the iPhone?

I think I understood the Photo Library but was wondering if iMessages work the same? Bottom line was that she wanted to save, at least for now, the messages on iPhone but wanted toregain use of iPad4 (by that I mean it was doing some weird things like continuously asking to activation unlock - which by the way goes away after a hard reset).

Thank you!
