iMessages

I was scrolling thru a recent conversation and realized that the beginning of the conversation which was started on 04/15/2014 thru 04/17/2014 is no longer present. And I did not delete this part of conversation specifically for information that I needed to refer back to. Are the messages rolling off?? If so how can I fix this immediately??? Please be simple with explanation as I am NOT tech savvy AT ALL. Thanks

I've had iMessages randomly disappear. I've been able restore from a back up to get them back.

I had the same issue on my old iPhone 4. The messages were months old and I never deleted them, but when I looked back to find them, they were gone. I too would love to know why just out of curiosity.
