Hello,

In OSX storage manager, I choose message and if I delete images or files that were sent in imessage, is it just deleting form the message and not from the original location?

Correct.

If you delete an attachment from Storage Management > Messages section it will be removing it from messages regardless of where the attachment came from. In Storage Management > Messages you can click on an attachment and click on "Show in Finder" for your peace of mind...
