This weekend I got an iMic. If there are any of you wondering to get one, it works great. Simple. Plug it in and go to system preferences and choose iMic to be your input device and it just works seamlessly. Great quality, too.

Thought I'd make a positive review for a change. :)

How much better is it than the built in mics that come with the mbp?
Well, you wouldn't need it, because you have input-in. The laptop mics are good for just, eh, video/audio chatting and some basic recording, but other than that, you need a better microphone.

Your MBP has input-in and you really wouldn't need this.

so, to clarify... can the iMic serve as a microphone? Or is it only good if you have another mic to plug into it.

It gives the option for a better microphone. It doesn't have a microphone, it's' basically only for iBook users who don't have input-in.
