iMoveHD: 30p and 60i HD editing

I'm in the market for a HDV camcorder. Does iMovie handle 30p without any problem? If so can I shoot in both 30p and 60i (depending on the need) and use both in the same project? I plan to edit the HDV then burn a SD DVD for family and export (or whatever Apple calls it) for watching through AppleTV on our HDTV.

Also do I need iMovie 8? I currently have iMovieHD (6).
