Imovie 06 - Ken Burns Effect

I am new to IMovie, but I'm having a problem with the panning. When I select a paticular photo, I then click on "show photo settings". I deselect to use the Ken Burns effect and click on apply. For some reason that is not working. It acts as if I didn't make the change. Am I missing something in the process? It also seems like there should be a way to turn off the Ken Burns effects globably. By default all of my photos had the Ken Burns effect turned on. Any help will be appreciated!!
