imovie 06 -mpeg4 video

Hi all,

I need help in imovie 06.

My goal is to add subtitles to 640x480 mov video.
When I create a new project of type Hi-def 720p in imovie 06 and import my video, then black column stripes are coming on both sides in the imported video probably to compensate the width.

I don't want to have these black stripes. For that, I created again a new project but selected "mpeg4" option. After importing the video, no black stripes are coming. But after adding subtitles to a portion of video, the sound of that portion is lost.

Any suggestions what to do? In hi-def project, subtitles are added easily, but black stripes are coming.

You could try doing this in either an iSight or DV specced project (Neither should have the black bars, and I can mix various formats in both types). This probably isn't the best solution, but it works, for me at least.
