iMovie '08 and JVC Everio

With past versions I have been unable to import video without converting with a secondary program (MPEG streamclip). Just wondering if anyone knows if imovie'08 will convert these files now (.mod files). I would love it if it did!

Unfortunately I doubt it, and being an everio owner and user too...it huts, but all they talked about on the little movie of it was the AVCHD being able to import from the camera via usb.

I'm gonna get it ASAP, I'll let you know. I just need to make sure that it doesn't get rid of my imovie HD form ilife '06...I don't want to lose some of it's functionality that doesn't appear to be in 08.
