Hi all - I'm an experienced editor suckered inton iMovie 08 for its speed in creating quick projects, and it currently seems to suck with a prosumer Sony HDD camcorder I'm experimenting with:

1) Importing 20 mins of video takes forever, then adds about 5 mins for making dozens and dozens of thumbnails for the clip library....something I'm missing as to why that's happening.

2) More importantly, when I slap together the clips from the HDD camera, and just want to burn straight to DVD (they are already MPEG2 files) they seem to have to be exported via the media browser, which takes 3x real-time....WTF...please tell me I'm doing something wrong?!? Why get a hard disc based camera if it imports, compresses, and exports slower than tape?
