imovie 08 doesn't render video

i'm having problems rendering a short video in imovie08. its mostly pics, but has a short video clip at the end.

in the final video the pictures and transitions render fine, but the video section is blank. i tried to do this both by using captured video animations using google earth pro and snapz pro.

help?
