iMovie 08 Import of Iphoto Videos?

Well I just started to play with imovie 08. I opened it and it was importing video from iphoto. But it crashed at one point and didn't import the rest of the video in there. Does it have to be in .vob or whatever format? Or will imovie import .mpg files?

Sorry, I am totally new to imovie so I am not sure exactly what it can import. :confused:
 
Also, how do I get it to import the rest of my iphoto movies automatically??
