imovie 08 no vid fx??????

im at an apple store and i was trying out imovie 08. i know the time line is missing, i know its a bit annoying but i can deal with it. what is really annoying is the fact that it seems there are not video fx!!!!! why would apple take this out?? it was a very good feature. hopefully imovie 09 is better
