iMovie '08 vs iMovie '06

Being new to the mac scene (recent switcher) and also new to video editing can anyone provide a list of positives and negatives for each program? The reason for asking is that I have been asked to film a wedding (it's ok they know I am just starting out ) and wondered which application to use to edit it and put it on DVD for them. Does iMovie '06 even work properly with iDVD '08? Any help much appreciated.

The most important part: If you already have 06 installed, it will still be there after installing 08.

I've only dabbled in each of them, but from what I can tell:

06 is a much better, more flexible editor.

08 is the easier editor, and better cataloging program (very similar to iPhoto).
