imovie 09: Can't change clip speed

I'm new to imovie and just want to change a clip's playback speed.

The help says to just double-click the clip to pop up the inspector window but the speed slider doesn't show at all.

What's up?

Never mind...

I was trying to apply the speed effect to a clip in the Event box and not the Library.

Believe it or not, I have actually mastered Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas.
