iMovie '09 deletes audio from imported clips

Whenever I import a video, be it from a camera or video file, the audio is missing from the video. I can rip the audio and import that but it does get very irritating and time-wasting having to do that every time I need to.

I would have moved over to Final Cut but I need the stabilisation program.

Any way to fix this completely?
