iMovie 09 issues importing from camcorder

So I tried looking for this issue but didn't have much luck. I just bought a Samsung H300 HD camcorder and am having issues importing video from it. I plug it in and iMovie goes to import it, but it seems to clip off more than half of each movie file. For example, I have a 10 sec clip and a 46 sec clip. When I import them they end up being 4.5 sec and 23 sec. I don't think its the camcorder since iMovie recognizes the clips at the import screen as 10 and 45 sec long. However once in iMovie, they are reduced.

Anyone had any experience with this? I have a 2.66 GHz intel core 2 duo with 8gb ram, so it should be fine running iMovie '09.

The only Samsung camcorder on the iMovie '09 Camcorder Support page is for a SC-MX20. Instead of using the built-in interface to import, you're actually supposed to do so through File->Import Movies. Maybe the steps are the same for your camera?
