I have been working on a file for days, and my Mac crashed. How do I open the file from IMovie? I have been backing it up to an external drive and I'm not able to open that one either. I've deleted the preference file, but that didn't help.

Let me get a few things straight. You said you mac crashed...what exactly do you mean by that? It just shut off, or hard drive issues?

Is iMovie opening at all for you?

If you just want to know how to open a file in iMovie, its pretty easy.
Just hit the project library button (see in attachment)
Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. That's not working. The file I've been working on is no longer on my local hard drive. I do have a very recently backed up copy on an external drive, but I'm unable to open it.

I've had so many problems with this version of IMovie. I have a graduation coming in days and don't have time to start over. This is very frustrating. I never expected to have problems like this on a Mac.

I also tried double clicking on the backed up file on my external drive. Imovie opens up, but the file never loads.

I'm starting to lose confidence in using my Mac for movie productions. My daughter's graduation is this Thursday and I don't have time to start over. Very frustrating.
