iMovie '09 or FCE help??

Hi, i am going to be making a movie of my holiday and wanted to know a good way to make the effect that the camera is "opening its eyes." I am going to start with a shot of my alarm clock and want it to be black and then when it starts buzzing the film starts and a kind of eye shape transition and make the film blurred like it is when you wake up. Is there any way to do this on iMovie 09 or final cut express?
