imovie '11 jump cut?

hi, im trying to use the jump cut feature on a movie i have created but cant get it to work. It is made of several clips with a song going on as well. So i went onto the "clip trimmer" and placed beat markers at the correct place. Then selected the clip (only a few seconds long) i wanted to go with the beats and selected "jump cut at beat markers" it gave me the options and after clicking on one of them nothing changed.... im confused.
