iMovie 11

I have a video clip with the sound gone. I have everything backed up in Time Machine. Where does iMovie store the older copies? It keeps opening the video without the sound?

All the imported clips are stored in Movies/iMovie Events. Editing does not alter the clips, so there are no backups or "older clips", however the importing process can since the clips are are typically transcoded.
